I have been planning this shot for ages. I never could find enough red Lego flower petals
so I ended up shooting a couple of patches and stitched them together to form the background. The Minifig was shot seperately and positioned in the middle. Finally the 3 floating petals where shot (out of focus) and strategically positioned.

I’ve been using the Manfrotto L-plate (elbow bracket) for a while in my panorama setup and some other specialized setups for macro and product photography. While I like the fact that it fits every camera I own, it’s quite heavy and bulky. The L-plate is fine for studio use, but it wont fit in my camera bags when mounted on a camera.
During my search for an alternative, I looked at RRS, Kirk and some others. The main problem with these products is that they fit only one model of camera, don’t fit the Manfrotto rc2 clamp and cost more than my camera bodies are worth.

After watching a motionless spider for 30 minutes, I was ready to call it a day. But all of a sudden a small fly got caught in the web and the spider rushed in for the kill.

I have been eyeballing the Manfrotto 322 and 222 ball heads for a while. For macro shots I found my 488rc2 ball head a bit impractical. I needed two hands to unlock, reposition the camera and lock.
Right when I tought I made up my mind Manfrotto introduced the 324rc2 and 327rc2. In this review I will compare the 488 with the 327 and 324,

A rainy saturday afternoon, a softbox, a couple of flashes and a string of cherry tomatoes are the ingredients for this product shot.
A glass plate beneeth the tamatoes prevent the black paper from getting ruined by the water droplets and creates a nice soft reflection.
The flashes are in a softbox only 40cm above the tomatoes. Leaving just enough room to take the shot.
